is that all there is?

the new computer is up and running.  it was exciting for the first 10 minutes but overall it's not really a big improvement.  it's faster but i'm not crazy about windows 10.  it'll take me a little while to get over the invasion of my privacy by microsoft.

it seems like yesterday that most people i knew were running bootleg copies of windows but now microsoft gives the operating system away. they ended the free windows 10 promotion but i think it's all a marketing gimmick. they signed up all the innovators and the free sign ups dwindled so they ended the promotion making people think they missed out on a good deal. i'm pretty sure microsoft will wait a few months and begin a new free promotion.

tomorrow i take the scooter in for the warranty service. about all they do is change the oil and then charge over a hundred bucks. i'm planning on taking a few big bikes for a test drive while i wait. i'll be taking a honda phantom/shadow out for spin and if the mood strikes i might take a crotch rocket out for a ride. the scooter is much more practical for zipping around the city but having all that power between your legs can be magical. maybe i'll find the fountain of youth.

and hey , let's be careful out there.

  1. They made a movie about motorbiking called 'Easy Rider', but I can't remember what the story was. I think they were trying to prove that speed was better than sex.

    1. I can, having seen the movie ten times at least. That movie influenced my decision to leave the South because I saw my neighbors in it, that is the mentality of most of the people around me.

    2. P.S. "I think they were trying to prove that speed was better than sex."

Well, uh, no. They instead imagined that the goal was to have a lot of money, no matter how that money was obtained because money would make you free. Once they got that money, they set out on a trip from LA to Florida, and the movie was about that trip.

    3. peter fonda and dennis hopper were like gods to us hard partying and bike riding maniacs. those bikes look so awkward and inefficient now.

  2. I’ve never had a motorcycle, although when I worked in funeral homes, I saw a lot of people who died on them, plus I hate Windows, so I have nothing useful to say.

    1. without a doubt there is an element of danger in motorcycles but the exhilaration from riding a bike is addictive. i went out and bought a motorcycle on my 16th birthday and couldn't believe how boring and awkward a car was when i finally bought one.

  3. they didn't have any shadows to take for a ride but i hopped on a forza 300 scooter and really enjoyed it. the more i think about it, the more i want one.

i also bought a trickle charger and ordered a new helmet.

  4. If the fountain of youth exists - please tell me where to find it!

  5. Let us know if you do indeed discover the fountain of youth. I could use a taste. Be careful with all that power between your legs ... it's gotta more than a few dudes in trouble. Take care Mr. Rosewater.

  6. it'll only take one moment of weakness for me to pick up a faster ride. i'm not getting any younger so it's almost now or never.

  9. Computers are like cars to me in what you say. The "newness" ends far too quickly for the cost. I only bought one new car in my life and it convinced me to always buy used cars because the seem like new to me whether used or new for perhaps a month and then they seem just old hat from that point. Maybe you can buy a used bike of your dreams and that will be just as good?

  10. Hope the scooter is purring like a kitten when she gets back from the shop!

I used to watch that biker movie when it would come on cable. I bet Charlie Sheen and Michael Madsen partied their asses off while they made that one.

    2. Oh my God, Lenny Dykstra is out of his mind. Did you hear him on Howard Stern?

    3. didn't hear lenny on howard but i just read that he's ready to fight mickey rourke. if mickey's holding a dog under his arm for the fight, my money's on lenny.

    4. Mickey actually knows how to box. Lenny will be in big trouble. Then again, Lenny has no teeth, so nothing to lose! He lost his teeth in prison somehow . . .
